Genetec Talks Core Initiatives and Protecting Liberal Democracies

Montreal-based Genetec staffs around 1,400 employees in offices around the world, including Secaucus, N.J., Mexico City, Sao Paolo, London, Bruges, Paris, Dusseldorf, Vienna, Dubai, Tokyo, Singapore and Brisbane.

The company has approximately 19,500 end customers globally, encompassing three defined industry segment groups, explains Andrew Elvish (above), vice president, marketing & product management. These are Signature Brands (retail, banking); Building & Industrials (enterprise, manufacturing, utilities & energy); and Cities & Infrastructure (government, airports, education, trains & transit, healthcare).

Genetec is a “channel-driven company” focused solely on enterprise clientele, Elvish said, although it does work with partners that serve small and medium-sized businesses.

There are four elements that drive the company’s product portfolio, Jean-Pierre Picard, manager of product marketing, explained later: openness, scalability, privacy & data protection, and the power of AI in security.

Although all of Genetec’s software products are based on unified platforms, the company boasts more than 4,000 plug-ins and integrations across its portfolio. These are achieved, in part, through the company’s open API and SDK, and Development Acceleration Program (DAP). Genetec also supports integrations by leveraging the communications protocols Modbus and BACnet, as well as OPC, an interoperability standard.
