ADS Security Unleashes Pet Project
Want to find a way to your customers’ hearts? Provide them peace of mind? Then think fur. Or even feathers. With an estimated 500,000 pets killed each year in residential fires and other calamities, extending your life-safety services and expertise to help safeguard Fido could win you new business.
It’s an idea Nashville, Tenn.-based ADS Security brought to market just this week, launching its Pet Alert & Watch Systems (PAWS) program. Granted, pet safety isn’t a novel idea. For instance, firefighters know to look for window alert signs indicating pets are in the home.
The PAWS offering, however, aims to leverage monitored detection systems, even video, to help look after all those cherished loved ones that aren’t able to flee an emergency on their own four legs.
Lots of ADS customers already provide the company with information about their animals, so creating a program around pet safety seemed a natural extension of its service offerings, Lisa Buckholts, ADS director of marketing, explained to me.
“We’re passionate about our pets too and that’s how this offering came about. The PAWS program lets us reach out to other pet owners that we might not ordinarily reach with our other products or services,” she says.
Smoke and carbon monoxide are equally toxic to animals, so there’s the obvious beauty of having a security system with monitored detection. How about remote video to keep an eye on an elderly pet while you’re at work or out for the day? The PAWS’ “Pet Cam” utilizes ADS’ remote video offering to stream live feeds to Web-enabled computers or mobile devices such as a smart phone.
Other parts to PAWS … the ADS central station will create a Pet Safety Profile, which stores vital pet information that can be communicated to emergency responders during a rescue effort. And the company has devised a simple Pet Rescue Decal, which can be placed at the entrance to a home alerting firefighters of any pet residents and where they are located in the home.
Woof-woof.
