New York Firefighters Honor Honeywell

NEW YORK – The Fire Department of New York City (FDNY) has tipped its helmets to Honeywell’s Fire Systems Group. The department’s Fire Safety Education Fund has named Honeywell one of the recipients of the annual FDNY Fire Commissioner’s Humanitarian Awards.

The award, announced at a dinner April 21, honors major leaders who have made a significant commitment to New York City firefighting and fire safety and prevention. Honeywell was honored for its diversified manufacturing and technology programs.

“Anything you can do to familiarize yourself with your local fire department is well worth taking the time to do,” says Honeywell Fire Systems Group President Allen Fritts, a volunteer firefighter himself. “The fire service is very important to what we do. We’re trying to give them as much intelligent information for them to minimize the loss of property and lives.”

The FDNY Fire Safety Education Fund promotes public awareness programs designed to reduce the incidence of serious fires and fire fatalities. “We applaud Honeywell Fire Systems for its outstanding leadership in the continued advancement of security and life-safety technologies,” says New York Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta.
