OpenEye at ISC West 2022: Analytics-Enabled Motion Detection, POS Connect

OpenEye will be showcasing Smart Motion, a new analytics-enabled motion detection feature and POS Connect for the OpenEye Web Services (OWS) open-Cloud platform, which marries transactional data from point-of-sale systems with video verification.

ISC West 2022 will be held March 22-25 at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas. Ahead of this year’s show, SSI heard from Eric Fullerton, OpenEye executive director, sales, about what the company will be showcasing at ISC West, its value proposition and more.

What is a leading product or offering your company is showing off at ISCW this year, and what makes it unique or special?

OpenEye is introducing Smart Motion, a new analytics-enabled motion detection feature that reduces false alerts and increases days of recorded video. Using analytics to detect motion patterns associated with persons and vehicles, Smart Motion ignores reflections, shadows, trees, and other objects in the environment that can cause irrelevant and nuisance motion events. Smart Motion is enabled in OpenEye’s Apex recording core on the recorder and will work with existing cameras, eliminating the need for a costly camera upgrade. This gives a smooth and cost-efficient path to modern analytics.

OpenEye is also launching POS Connect for the OpenEye Web Services (OWS) open-Cloud platform, which marries transactional data from point-of-sale systems with video verification. Using customizable searches and notifications you can identify fraud, operator errors or poor customer experiences so you can correct them and improve your bottom line.

Any other products or offerings would you like to highlight?

OpenEye continues to expand its portfolio and focus on adding flexibility and freedom of choice on both the server and camera side. We’re introducing analytics-enabled cameras and are excited to offer multiple analytics options with our open-Cloud platform that increase operational efficiency and provide actionable insights.

What else is new or noteworthy about the company for 2022?

We are excited about our continued and rapid growth. We relocated to a much larger facility in Liberty Lake, Wash., in 2021. We are excited to utilize our additional production capacity to reduce product delivery times to our partners in 2022. We are also excited for the continued growth of our team and anticipate increasing our total workforce by around 40% in 2022.

What is your company’s overall value proposition to security dealers/integrators? Why should they do business with you?

We offer a compelling solution for end users, that has back-end dealer tools and resources designed to make their job of delivering video services easier. We put time and effort into building tools not only to provide a better video service to end users but also to dealers and integrators who ultimately deliver and maintain the solution. We have always been a “channel first” business so we’re in tune with their needs and understand their business and market and are able to build that into our solutions.

What do you see as some of the top opportunities in the marketplace right now?

Our partners, dealers and integrators have a great opportunity to maintain a more consultative relationship with end users and add business value rather than just installing systems. Video is no longer just about physical security and loss prevention. OpenEye’s Cloud video platform addresses uniquely businesses cybersecurity and operational needs as well. Video can be utilized as a tool to provide actionable insights into everyday business.

Because more end users are open to video surveillance as a service (VSaaS), integrators are well positioned to offer managed services and long-term support, which creates recurring revenue streams that, in turn, increases the value and stability of their businesses.

Anything else you would like to add?

We’re excited about end users becoming more comfortable with Cloud-managed video, and the market’s move to using video, not only as a physical security tool but also as a business tool. It allows them to innovate and gain benefits from what is a substantial investment for them.

Cybersecurity is a must for businesses, and the right tools in a video surveillance system can increase the level of security and build trust between a provider and end user. OpenEye Web Services features Cloud-based user management, role-based user groups, multifactor authentication, remote software updates and security policies that make it easier to employ best practice security measures and ensure network security as well as peace of mind. All this while adding value to our partners’ and end users’ bottom lines.
