Police Chiefs Covet Alarm Panel Standard
FRISCO, Texas — The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has passed a resolution requesting that jurisdictions mandate the use of the SIA CP-01 standard for alarm control panels and that panel manufacturers comply with the standard as well.
The SIA CP-01 standard aims to decrease the number of false dispatches by requiring all control panels to cover event recognition, information handling sequences and provisions for system layout testing. Installers must also use specific program options and test procedures to ensure compliance.
