TOKYO—SwitchBot, a new smart home retrofitting and automation brand, has announced the launch of the SwitchBot Outdoor Security Camera 2K, which is designed with 2K resolution and a variety of advanced features for smart home applications.
The company states that its new outdoor camera features a high-resolution 3MP lens for high levels of image quality both day and night. SwitchBot asserts the Outdoor Security Camera 2K through its advanced sensor capture every detail and the product’s iSmart Features and Integration support several smart-home friendly amenities that include:
- AI-Powered Motion Detection: Recognizes people and filters unnecessary alerts
- Customizable Detection Zones: Focuses on specific areas like driveways or front doors
- Two-Way Audio: Communicates in real-time with visitors through the SwitchBot app
- Voice Control: Uses Alexa voice commands to display footage on Echo Show
- Tamper-Proof Alarm: Emits a 106dB alarm and sends alerts if someone tampers with the camera

SwitchBot points out that another smart home feature that its new camera provides homeowners is a fast and easy installation. The company explains the Outdoor Security Camera 2K employs a base that enables its mounting using adhesive materials or straps, and it provides users a choice of several power options such as:
- Solar-Powered Charging: Used with SwitchBot’s Solar Panel for OSC, the camera provides 365 days of uninterrupted power with one hour of charging from sunlight per week
- Extended Battery Life with Hub: Used with any SwitchBot Hub, it can function for up to 365 days, even without sunlight
- Standalone Battery: The Outdoor Security Camera 2K also features a 10000mAh battery offers up to 180 days of operation on a single charge, presenting predominant advantage on the market
The company adds the smart home friendly Outdoor Security Camera 2K is built to withstand harsh outdoor conditions. The camera SwitchBot emphasizes complies with IP65 waterproof testing and it operates in temperatures from 14 degrees to 122 degrees Fahrenheit to help ensure reliable performance in various weather conditions.
