HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. – Vicon Industries Inc. has been awarded a third consecutive contract to provide the Tennessee Department of Corrections with additions and upgrades to its surveillance and security systems.

ViconNet video management software is used to monitor prisoner activity and movement within each location as well as to facilitate remote video visitation between inmates and their visitors.

The ViconNet software is controlled and the video is recorded using Kollector network DVRs. Vicon IP cameras are employed at each facility, and the systems’ first megapixel cameras are planned for installation later this year.

More than 20,000 inmates are currently held within Tennessee’s state prison system, which includes 12 male and two female facilities. All inmates are required to work or attend school during their incarceration and are supervised by a staff of more than 5,000 employees.
