Last year, I declared that bears had quickly vaulted their way to the upper echelon of Internet animal stars alongside the likes of cats and dogs.
Over the past few weeks, these top video compilations have featured strong women fighting back. These two trends come together in this week’s featured video.
Surveillance footage from a Southern California backyard shows a momma bear on top of a brick wall with its cubs. The bears quickly attract the attention of the home’s dogs who come running over and start barking.
The bear begins to swipe at the dogs when 17-year-old Hailey Morinico hears the commotion and immediately springs into action. Without hesitating, she sprints toward the bear, shoves it off the wall, picks up one of the dogs and runs back into the house along with the rest of her canine companions.

Miami has seen a large increase in shootings since the beginning of the year. The latest one occurred outside a club during a rap concert.
Surveillance video shows a white SUV pull into an ally followed by three masked suspects exiting with guns in hand. Another camera shows a large group of people suddenly scramble as the gunmen open fire on a crowd outside the club.
