Online shopping is more popular than ever. The creation of Amazon Prime has encouraged other companies to offer fast, free shipping as well. This has led to an increase of package deliveries, which in turn encourages package theft.

The rise of package theft has helped the growth of smart video doorbells. In fact, one out of four package theft victims end up buying a video doorbell. While video doorbells are helpful, any surveillance camera placed in the right location can help identify porch pirates.

Surveillance cameras at one home caught the moment a porch pirate tried to make off with a homeowner’s package, only to be chased down by her. The video shows a woman walk up to a door and put down a bag while picking up an Amazon package.

As the woman makes her way to the getaway vehicle, the homeowner opens the door and sprints after her, barefoot and in pajamas. She is able to get to the car and take her package back before the suspects drive off.
