Subways and public transit in general aren’t usually the most comfortable way to get around. You’re crammed in a tin can with strangers that may smell or be sick, yet you have nowhere to go until you arrive at your stop.

The last thing you would want is a crazy man threatening to set himself on fire. Unfortunately that’s exactly what happened one day during a commute in Chicago.

Surveillance footage from a subway train shows police struggling with a man who allegedly threatened to set himself of fire.

Eventually the man is able to set a can of paint thinner on fire, filling the train with flames and smoke. Police are able to escape with the man just as the train becomes engulfed with fire.
