Arizona City Charges Security Companies False Alarm Fees

NOGALES, Ariz.

The City Council of Nogales, Ariz., unanimously approved
a “three-strikes” system for security companies whose
systems yield false alarms. Under the new system, the
Nogales Police Department will charge alarm companies $59
for each false alarm after the third time a false alarm is
determined. The companies must pay the fees or pass them
along to customers.

The system marks an alteration from a previous ordinance
passed in late March, under which companies would be
charged an immediate $45 for every false alarm with no
warnings.
