ASIS Chief Security Officer Guideline Released

ALEXANDRIA, Va.

ASIS Int’l marks its second guideline release with the
recently released C-level Chief Security Officer (CSO)
guideline. The new guideline, applicable to private and
public sector environments, includes information about the
position’s scope, as well as key responsibilities,
accountabilities, competencies and education requirements.

The guideline comes after intense scrutiny. After an
initial draft release of Nov. 24, 2003, the guideline was
subject to a 60-day comment period, which yielded 32
comments. The guideline committee reviewed the comments and
made appropriate recommendations.

The ASIS Commission on Guidelines was established in 2001
in response to an increased need for U.S. security
guidelines.
