Installing security contractors and monitoring companies have only until Feb. 28 to enter the 2009 Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) award program.

 

Formerly announced at SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION’s SAMMY Awards in Las Vegas on the eve of ISC West, the 5th annual PDQ Award will be bestowed during the Electronic Security Expo (ESX) in Pittsburgh, June 14-18.

Organized by the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA) and SSI, the honor recognizes alarm installing and monitoring businesses for establishing practices that help prevent false dispatches.

Atronic Alarms of Lenexa, Kan., captured the 2008 award for achieving exceptionally low false police dispatches and for fully integrating alarm dispatch management practices throughout all company departments. You can read about Atronic’s winning methods in the May 2009 issue of SSI or click here.

Examples of police department and security company cooperation are being collected to help create best practices guidelines in the PDQ program, and dealers and integrators are invited to share their winning stories.

The winning alarm company will be recognized in a hometown ceremony along with a local law enforcement representative and will receive $1,000 courtesy of Honeywell during the award ceremony at ESX.
