Head of GE Security Pro Leaves to Form Consulting Company

HUDSON, Wisc.

The prime developer of the Security Pro dealer program has
left GE
to form his own consulting firm for service-related
businesses. Michael Benedict has formed Best Practices Inc.
(BPI) to help companies that install and service home
systems operate more profitably.

Benedict helped form Security Pro at Interlogix and stayed
on as director of the program after Interlogix was
purchased by GE in 2002. His last day at GE was June 3 and
a search has commenced for a new Security Pro director.

Benedict told Security Sales & Integration that BPI
is more than just a business undertaking.

“I perceive this move to be more of an adventure then a
venture. I use the word adventure because it implies
excitement and change, which is what BPI is all about,”
Benedict says. “After over 23 years of working in the
service industry, I decided to develop and deliver some new
business programs and products that will create a whole new
level of service and efficiency to all service-related
businesses.”

Benedict says only a handful of installing companies take
advantage of best practices in their service industry, and
BPI is designed to change that. BPI will assist contractors
who install and service such residential systems as
security, HVAC, home theater and audio, automation, drapery
and carpeting, plumbing and electrical, as well as the
manufacturers they use.

BPI will provide such services as branding, funding, market
research, public relations, packaging, social/causal
marketing, strategic communications, professional speaking
and Internet communications. For more on BPI, go to HREF=’http://www.bestpracticesinc.biz’
