Home Director Inc. says its joint venture with Sears, Roebuck and Co. has resulted in the certification of eight integrators with a combined opportunity to install new lifestyle solutions in more than 8,000 homes.

During the next 18 months, Home Director will match its builder partners with authorized integrators as part of the joint venture, called Sears Connected Home, and integrators will convert some of their existing builders to the Home Director structured wiring solution. Among the modifications homebuilders and homeowners can make to their properties are home networking, automation, video and audio distribution. Preliminary results show an average profit increase to the builder of $1,000 in a 2,700-square-foot home.

Officials with Home Director and Sears say their goal is to become the largest network of certified installers servicing the homebuilding industry. Since its introduction, over 330 installation companies have applied for the program. “The Sears Connected Home Program is well on its way to becoming the largest network of certified structured wiring installers servicing the homebuilding industry”, said Don Witmer, Chairman and CEO of Home Director.

Sears Connected Home has been able to add the following integrators: Ackerman Technologies in Atlanta; Network Traffic Controllers in Dallas; HomeNet in Sioux Falls, S.D.; Alltech Specialists, Inc. in Tampa, Fla.; Tech Solutions 4 Business Inc. in Ft. Meyers, Fla.; Controllor Security in Detroit; ProTec Services in Duncan, S.C.; and Hacienda Security of Scottsdale, Ariz.
