Honeywell Employees Volunteer to Help Elderly

MELVILLE, N.Y.

Two low-income elderly people who were confined to their homes by wheelchair are now enjoying newfound freedom after Honeywell and the nonprofit organization Rebuilding Together furnished each of their Long Island, N.Y., homes with wheelchair ramps and other modifications.

Volunteers, including eight Honeywell employees and executives, donated their time to install the ramps in early June.

“Whether it’s installing a wheelchair ramp or completely renovating a home for a family in need, it’s important for organizations to support their communities in any way possible,” says Ron Rothman, president of Honeywell Security & Communications. “It’s a great feeling to give back to a community that has supported Honeywell for many years.

Honeywell supports many projects sponsored by Rebuilding Together, which operates in more than 200 cities. The organization works to bring volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income families and elderly persons.
