Honeywell Security Sets Up Surveillance System for Puerto Rico Port

MINNEAPOLIS

Honeywell Security is scheduled to install an integrated
digital surveillance system for the Port of San Juan in
Puerto Rico as part of a $4.9 million contract. The system
will cover the 11-mile perimeter, and security personnel
will have a complete view of activity in the San Juan Bay
and on the port. The port will also meet U.S. Department of
Homeland Security (DHS) requirements.

“The new system delivers true integration for all facets of security onto a single platform,” says Carl Rysdon, vice president of homeland security at Honeywell. “In addition, Puerto Rico can expand the power of this system to the rest of its critical infrastructure,” adds Rysdon.

“The Port of San Juan experiences high levels of traffic throughout the year so we wanted to be even more secure than required,” says Fernando Diaz, general security director of the Puerto Rican Port Authority.

Honeywell plans to install a CCTV solution that includes Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator™ (EBI) and Honeywell Digital Video Manager™ (DVM). The end result is a surveillance system that supports integration with other systems through a single PC workstation. In addition, 153 video cameras will be located throughout the port. Seven of the cameras will have night vision. Included in the system will be 40TB of memory for high resolution and frame rate recording.
