Johnson Controls Outfits Reno Airport

MILWAUKEE

Reno/Tahoe Int’l Airport has contracted with Johnson Controls to upgrade its security technology and command center. The $2.6 million agreement covers the design and development of a new offsite security command center, which will house both the airport operations center and the emergency operations center for the airport.

The new command center, previously located in the airport terminal, will be moved half a mile away from the terminal to allow for extra space and make security control more effective. The new technology being installed at the command center will act as a hub interface to a command center vehicle, which will be built in the near future and will be able to upload information from the airport operations center.

Upgrades to the entire system include the addition of 20 new surveillance cameras, expansion of the digital video recording system and an IT upgrade as well. The project is scheduled to be finished in spring of 2006.
