Secura Key Adopts Best Practices for RFID Privacy

CHATSWORTH, Calif.

Access control manufacturer Secura Key has joined in the lead of fellow RFID-system producer HID Corp. and passed a set of privacy guidelines and practices for its products. Secura Key has adopted a version of the RFID privacy best practices first introduced by HID and parent company ASSA ABLOY at September’s ASIS Expo.

“The industry is committed to educating end-users and the public about RFID technology, and addressing privacy concerns with reasonable solutions that offer the desired security,” said Secura Key Vice President of Sales and Marketing Bill Newill in a statement.

Among the practices included are those that protect the personal information of the end user and implicitly states that the RFID information be used only for determining access.
