Study: Network Camera Market Share to Surpass Analog in 2009

FARMINGHAM, Mass.

A new study predicts that network camera market share will surpass analog camera market share in the United States by 2009. The study by market analysis firm IDC says that network camera shipments are expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 82 percent between 2004 and 2009, while analog camera shipments will drop by 4 percent.

Chris Chute, senior analyst for IDC, says the success of network cameras lies in new installation opportunities.

The IDC study also found that the surveillance and security industries will continue to drive the network camera market; end users will increasingly adopt digital solutions as the price of network cameras declines and their use in corporate network facilities increases; and leaders in the overall surveillance camera market will increasingly push the use of digital solutions.
