ISC East to Offer Full Slate of Free Education
New for this year is a three-session program called “Demystifying the Mass Evacuation and Notification Market.”
ISC East at the Javits Center North in New York City, Nov. 19-20, will offer free education and more than 200 exhibiting manufacturers and service providers.
NEW YORK CITY – ISC East, billed as the largest security event in the Northeast United States, will return Nov. 19-20 to Javits Center North, located here.
More than 200 manufacturers and service providers will exhibit during the two-day conference, which draws thousands of regional installing security contractors, IT and physical security integrators, consultants, specifiers and end users.
Sponsored by the Security Industry Association, the SIA Education@ISC curriculum will offer new content developed specially for attendees on the most current business trends, technologies and state requirement/codes. The full lineup of complimentary sessions is open to all ISC badge holders.
Various session titles include “IAPSC Workshop: How to Be a Security Consultant”; “Fire Alarm Installations: A Review of Applicable Codes and Standards”; “IP Networking Primer”; “How to Survive in the Security Industry: The Next Ten Years”; “Improving Transit System Safety with Integrated Security Solutions”; and “Talent Management Best Practices.”
New for this year is a three-session program called “Demystifying the Mass Evacuation and Notification Market.” Known as both Mass Evacuation Systems (MES) and Emergency Communication Systems (ECS), this quickly-emerging market encompasses sound and communication, fire and security in one cohesive solution. To provide a more comprehensive look at mass evacuation/notification, the one-hour sessions on Nov. 19 are geared to help attendees fully understand the market, obtain multi-discipline information, plan for the future, and identify a team that provides the best long-term solution for the customer.
Sandra Jones, an inductee to SSI‘s Industry Hall of Fame, coordinated the new sessions with John Stofa, municipal account manager, Honeywell Fire Safety. “This new educational program is geared at attracting more fire professionals, AHJ’s (authorities having jurisdiction) and existing dealers or installers on the mass notification side of the market,” Jones says.
“Understanding and Defining the Market” is the first session in the series and is presented by Stofa and Roopa Shortt, A/V marketing manager for System Sensor. The session focuses on the history, evolution and growth opportunity of the mass notification and evacuation market, as well as where to start with product selection and design.
Stofa also will present the second session, “Building for the Future,” along with Jack Poole, principal of Poole Fire Protection. The session will help attendees discover new ways of developing partnerships and alliances to build a cohesive solution team, learn what codes and requirements are driving this market, and how to obtain new information to stay up-to-date in this fast-paced industry.
The third session, “Plans in Action,” examines the elements of a project and explores system design from various perspectives through case studies and will help attendees evaluate the information necessary to satisfy codes, customers and AHJs. The session will be presented by Stofa, along with Ryan Ockuly, national sales director of Alertus Technology, and David Smith, business and channel strategy with Lencore.
