ComNet 4-Port Self-Managed Ethernet Switch

The four-port self-managed Ethernet switch (CNFE4SMS) by Communication Networks (ComNet) of Danbury, Conn., has four TX Ethernet ports that allow the Ethernet data from the three of the TX ports to be combined and inserted on to the network through the fourth TX port. The self-management feature requires no user intervention and is preprogrammed to avoid flooding the network.

The switch, which supports distances up to 100 meters, allows users to create a virtual local area network (VLAN) that manages the Ethernet data being transported to prevent network flooding and meets the IEEE 802.1x VLAN management standard. The fourth electrical TX port is designed to forward the data from the three electrical ports to the next switch, to a PC, or another Ethernet connection.
