Tyco Security Products Acquires ID Authentication Specialist Innometriks

Tyco says the acquisition will strengthen its position in the federal access control market.

WESTFORD, Mass.  — Tyco Security Products has acquired the assets of Innometriks and its sister company, 2DogsStudios, developers of high assurance readers, software and mobile solutions for FIPS-201 smart card credentials. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The company announced Monday evening the acquisition will strengthen its position in the federal market by integrating Innometriks’ solution into the Software House C•CURE 9000 access control and security management ecosystem, as well as enabling the ability to integrate with systems from other manufacturers.

The integration is achieved with an open architecture that moves government credential authentication directly into the physical access panel and leveraging Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP)-capable readers. The combined technologies will become part of Tyco Security Products’ access control solution portfolio.

Founded eight years ago, Oceanside, Calif.-based Innometriks is also a provider of fingerprint biometric readers and deep integration into physical access systems.

“We are very excited to be joining the Tyco family,” says John Cassise, CEO of Innometriks.  “Tyco Security Products’ leadership position in the access control market allows us access to expanded financial resources and channel reach. This will accelerate the momentum we’ve been building over the past three years, and brings full value to the investment the government has made in smart card based credentials.”

Combining technologies from the two companies will create an offering that is fast, open, modular and cost effective, says Jason Ouellette, product line director, access control, Tyco Security Products.

“The benefits of this acquisition not only extend to the government market, but also to commercial customers who require high assurance access control systems,” he says.
