CANASA Celebrates 20 Years at Security Canada Central; Honors David Currie

TORONTO

The Canadian Alarm and Security Association (CANASA) wrapped up the century on two high notes: a successful turnout for Security Canada Central and its 20th anniversary celebration. More than 1,900 dealers, end users, buyers, industry suppliers and guard response companies assembled Oct. 20-21 at the Toronto Congress Centre. In addition, 150 exhibitors in 224 booths showcased their newest products and services to security professionals. The association also introduced its 1999/2000 board of directors at the show.

Following CANASA’s annual general meeting on Oct. 20, the association hosted a members-only cocktail reception in the convention center. The event was a celebration of the associations 20-year milestone of hosting Security Canada. CANASA President Rick Snook and past presidents kicked off the festivities by cutting a huge 20th anniversary cake.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the R.A. Henderson Trophy to David Currie, president of Security Response Center and Damar Security Systems in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, and a long-time member of the Canadian Alarm and Security Association (CANASA) board of directors.
