Company Spreads the Word on Integration With Help of Miami Police

MIAMI, Fla. — A security integrator in Florida wanted to show its community the value of a truly integrated security system. The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) wanted to help those it serves and protect to learn how to protect themselves better.

With a souped-up bus and state-of-the-art technology, Security One Systems and the MDPD have joined forces on a mobile crime prevention exhibit. The Crime Prevention Vehicle, which took to the road for the first time Dec. 8, features exhibits providing visitors with crime prevention information and an extensive security equipment demonstration.

The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.-based Security One donated its services to the police effort, including installation, creation of a network and security demonstration capability involving alarm and CCTV systems. The Crime Prevention Vehicle tours the Miami area, stopping at shopping malls, commercial businesses and crime prevention groups.

Security One Miami Account Manager Phil Cerber says the exhibit is a chance for his company to spread the word on integration. “What we wanted to do is show them true system integration,” he says. “Everyone throws that term around loosely and not many know what it truly means.”

GE made an extensive contribution to Security One’s display, donating Micro/PXN-2000 access control microprocessors and a Kalatel DVR. The system is rounded out by an alarm system from NAPCO Security Systems.
