GE Security Announces Changes in Leadership and Locales

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Changes in leadership and location are coming to GE Infrastructure, Security after a set of announcements made during the 2005 GE Security Conference. The June 13-17 event drew more than 800 dealers, integrators and end users to the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Fla.

Longtime president and CEO Ken Boyda has retired and been succeeded by COO Louis Parker. In addition, GE is moving the headquarters of Infrastructure, Security division from Austin, Texas, to the former home base of fire/life safety systems provider Edwards Systems Technology (EST) in Bradenton, Fla. EST was purchased by GE in March.

Boyda has been through two mergers and several product introductions as head of the security products manufacturer now known as GE Infrastructure, Security since 1990. “My 15 years in the security industry were extremely rewarding and enjoyable,” says Boyda. “I really appreciate all the friends I’ve made throughout the years.”

Parker, profiled in the May issue of SSI, lavished praise back at Boyda. “Ken built GE Security from nothing, and we will forever be in his debt.”

Several star speakers — including former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Security Sales & Integration Editor-in-Chief Scott Goldfine — highlighted the conference, which had folded in the former GE Security Pro conference.
