LockNet Acquires Fire King’s Door Business, Moves Into Manufacturing Realm
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky.
Security maintenance service provider LockNet has acquired the door business unit of Fire King Int’l, a manufacturer of fireproof file cabinets and electronic intelligent safes based in New Albany, Ind. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“Since servicing and maintaining doors and door hardware is the basis of LockNet’s business, moving into the manufacturing of specialty doors is a natural fit,” says Benson Miller, president of LockNet. Miller added that the company is working to assure there is little or no interruption in service and support to its new customers.
The door business unit derives from Fire King’s 1999 acquisition of NKL Industries, which included Chesapeake Door Hardware, a manufacturer of security doors. “We have grown the door business modestly during the last two and a half years, but it is not a major part of our core competency,” states Van Carlisle, president and CEO of Fire King. “Our focus is on manufacturing marketing and servicing NKL intelligent safes. Security doors are a great fit in LockNet’s product offering. They are very familiar with our customer base and have an excellent customer service record.”
In other company news, LockNet has agreed to acquire the assets of Clarksville, Ind.-based Silver Lining Technologies Inc. Founded in 1992, Silver Lining Technologies manufactures exit alarm locks. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
At press time, the transaction was expected to close within the next 30 to 45 days.
