Hospital System Handled With Intensive Care
The work entailed providing a splice point near the old control center for all the intercom circuits, existing cameras and gate controls. Torrence Sound then ran new wiring from that splice point up and over the ceiling to the new control center. Upon splicing completion, it was go-time.
“We had a mandate from our leadership to keep the old control center operational while the new control center was being brought online,” says Mramor. “There was a 24-hour window when we had to shift over a lot of technology – including intercoms, access control, existing cameras and fire protection – so that there was always an operational system in place.”
There were 40 intercom circuits alone to disconnect and reconnect. Technicians had to confirm the different circuits worked before temporarily disconnecting them, ultimately to make certain they didn’t lose any camera or intercom signals.
“We started moving in what we could equipment-wise [to the new center],” Mramor says, “and then we got to crunch time to make the transition from the old to the new.”
