Honeywell Acquires Genesis Cable

SYOSSET, N.Y.

Honeywell has purchased low-voltage wire and cable
manufacturer Genesis Cable Systems LLC. Honeywell, parent
company of Honeywell Security, had previously owned a 30-
percent interest in the company and has now taken full
ownership. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed and the
deal is still subject to regulatory approval.

Genesis Cable supplies wiring for access control, alarm and
security systems, as well as cabling for other voice, video
and data applications. Genesis has seen a steady growth in
its providing of structured wiring for home networking.
Honeywell Security President Ben Cornett sees Genesis as a
strong addition to Honeywell’s security offerings.

“This is a strong fit for us because wire and cable plays
an integral role in so many Honeywell systems,” says
Cornett. “This nicely complements our HREF=t_ci_newsView.cfm?nid=1290>recent acquisition of
FutureSmart Systems
.”

Honeywell says Genesis Cable and its 270 employees in
Pleasant Prairie, Wis., will be part of the Honeywell
Security and Custom Electronics unit.

“We’re very excited to be part of Honeywell,” says Genesis
Cable President Jim Coleman. “Our products provide the
bandwidth that makes integration possible in homes and
businesses. This will advance Honeywell’s strategy of
bringing together security, fire, sound, home theater,
voice, data and energy management.”
