IRIDIAN-RYCOM UNION SET TO SPREAD BIOMETRICS ACROSS CANADA
MARLTON, N.J., and MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Canada
Iridian Technologies Inc., a biometrics company formerly known as IriScan Inc., and RYCOM Inc. have entered into a strategic alliance making RYCOM Iridian’s country manager in Canada. Through the agreement, RYCOM will lead sales, marketing and distribution of Iridian’s products throughout the Canada.
Iridian is the sole owner and developer of iris recognition technology, which identifies people by the unique patterns of the iris—the colored ring around the pupil of the eye. According to Iridian, iris recognition is the highest accuracy, single-factor identification method in the world, statistically more accurate than DNA, and can be used for physical access security, information security and a variety of walk-up applications, including automated banking. The authentication market is projected to reach $2.6 billion by 2004, according to DataQuest.
