Las Vegas Resorts Insert RFID Chips in Casino Chips

LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS
Two hotel casinos in Las Vegas – the Hard Rock and the soon-to-open Wynn – will be the first to test RFID technology on their gaming tables. The two casinos are installing monitoring systems for RFID chips that they will use in lieu of traditional chips.

The RFID chips will help the casinos detect fraud and counterfeiting. It is also possible that the RFID technology could be used in the future to track players and reward those who are shown to be high rollers, according to news Web site CNET.

The Wynn resort will open in late April a few weeks after the International Security Conference (ISC) West takes place from April 6 to 8.
