SIAC Develops New Research Tool

NEW YORK

The Ordinance Tracking Information System (OTIS), developed by the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), is scheduled for the first half of 2005. The purpose of OTIS is to develop and revise alarm ordinances by giving law enforcement comparative information on ordinances for cities of like size.

“OTIS will be a research tool for alarm companies operating on the local, regional and national level,” says SIAC executive director Stan Martin. “It will provide valuable information to law enforcement, policymakers, third party monitoring companies and proprietary providers such as State Farm, Auto Zone and Federal Express.”

Representatives in the alarm industry, brought together by SIAC, came together to create a centralized database. The group developed protocols and is scheduled to work with the industry and law enforcement through the professional associations to finalize the project.
