State of Delaware Adopts NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code for Statewide Use

QUINCY, Mass.

The state of Delaware has adopted NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code (UFC) on a statewide basis. Delaware code officials recently attended an NFPA training program designed for states that adopt NFPA 1 and other key codes and standards.

“NFPA codes and standards have been used in Delaware for years – our code officials and members of the fire service have benefited from the training and services provided by NFPA. We have always supported NFPA 1 and it is wonderful that we have now officially adopted it and taken this step in making the people of Delaware safer,” says Delaware State Fire Marshal Willard Preston III.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) of Quincy, Mass., NFPA 1 is widely used within the United States. Because of the recent adoption of this code document by Delaware, the residents of the state are assured a reasonable level of fire safety and property protection from hazards involving fire.
