Visit SSI at ISC East New York Oct. 24-25!
NEW YORK
This year’s International Security Conference (ISC) East is set to be held at Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City this coming Tuesday, Oct. 24 through Wednesday, Oct. 25. Security Sales and Integration (Booth No. 2363) is among the hundreds of exhibitors that will be on hand.
In an attempt to stay ahead of the security-IT convergence curve, the ISC event will take place along side exhibition specialist Reed’s Infosecurity event.
“We felt it was an opportune time to bring these two shows together, to bring their two distinct audiences together, because they are really driving the convergence,” says Dean Russo, group vice president of Reed’s security and life-safety portfolio.
Russo says while it all takes place under one roof, each event will maintain its own identity with separate show floors and registration. Good news: each badge will get you into both shows.
“During the show we are promoting as much interaction and crossover opportunities for each audience as we can,” he says.
More than 9,000 industry professionals are expected to attend the event for a chance to view the latest products and technology. Just some of the industry heavyweights scheduled to exhibit: ASSA ABLOY, Bosch, DSC, Honeywell, NAPCO, Panasonic, Pelco and Tyco.
The addition of the Infosecurity New York show allows ISC East to focus on the core physical security disciplines, Russo says. In all, about 500 manufacturers and suppliers will display their wares. Security equipment and systems product categories include commercial, industrial, residential and institutional. The ISC educational program, IP Institute, will present a wide offering of convergence instruction covering such topics as systems design, technology applications, networking/IP, CCTV/surveillance and management issues.
SSI‘s own Bob Grossman, who pens the “Enterprising Solutions” column each month, is a featured instructor. Grossman, president of R. Grossman and Associates, will teach “CCTV: Designing for the Future Using Today’s Technology” on Oct. 24 (3 p.m.-5 p.m.). The conference portion of the event begins Oct. 23.
Two general sessions will be geared for both IT and physical security professionals. The FBI’s Mark Mershon, assistant director in charge of the New York field office, will provide the keynote Oct. 24 to discuss issues specific to the Northeast region and the importance of a law enforcement-private sector partnership.
On Oct. 25, the “Not In My Network” convergence panel discussion will include Ron Moritz, Chief Security Strategist at CA Inc.; Boulton Fernando, CSO at Indymac Bank; Irene Lam, senior product manager for Tyco’s American Dynamics brand; and Jim Henry, CEO of Henry Brothers Electronics.
