Wireless Networking Provides Connectivity for IP Cameras
The Access 5830 by Trango Systems of San Diego provides network access using wireless technology. The system, which operates at 10Mbps at either 5.8GHz or 5.3GHz, does not require a license. Using what Trango calls SMARTPolling, the system is capable of sufficient bandwidth for up to 500 subscriber units. Trango recently donated an Access 5830 and two FOX5800 subscriber units for use in Little Tokyo Service Center Community Development Corporation in San Diego (see photo).
The product can be used in a variety of applications where wireless access to the network is required. Video surveillance using IP technology is one of them. Because this system is wireless, IP cameras can be positioned to watch outside municipal water tanks, water storage reservoirs, city streets and more.
