CSAA, Industry Bids Farewell to Celia Besore
The other day I received an urgent voice message from my long-time colleague and friend at the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA), Vice President of Marketing & Programs Celia Besore. Having always looked forward to my conversations with Celia, I promptly returned the call and received some bittersweet news. She told me she was leaving CSAA to accept a position as head of a nursing association, a position she had steadfastly educated and trained herself for the past few years.
I was elated for Celia, but sad to see CSAA and the industry lose such a vibrant, enthusiastic and productive individual. And most of all, I was saddened for personal reasons since we had collaborated in myriad ways and forged a deep friendship during her decade-long-plus tenure. And her departure combined with last month’s untimely death of Electronic Security Association (ESA) Associate Executive Director Tonja Jenkins has the industry’s leading dealer-focused associations and co-owners of the Electronic Security Expo (ESX) reeling a bit.
When I spoke with Celia, she overflowed with jubilance about her new opportunity but also remorse at having to leave our industry. She will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. Best of luck and congratulations to you, Celia, and thank you for all you contributed to our industry. Below is the notice CSAA placed in a recent newsletter announcing Celia’s departure.
After 11 years of service to the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA), Celia Trigo Besore is moving on to become the executive director & CEO of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), a 1,200-member professional society, with chapters throughout the United States.
“I am honored to have served CSAA. I will greatly miss the wonderful people I met here — from co-workers, to board members, committees and wiki workgroup members, and all the other wonderful members with whom I was fortunate to work,” said Celia.
“I have had the pleasure of working closely with Celia over the past several years and found her enthusiasm and commitment evident in every project she undertook,” said Pam Petrow, chair of the CSAA Marketing & Communications Committee and COO of Vector Security. “She has been a tremendous asset in many areas and I will miss her tenacity, organization and passion for excellence.”
CSAA Executive Vice President Steve Doyle added, “Celia has helped enormously to bring CSAA into the electronic age and developed our communications efforts to an exceptional degree. We will all miss not just a colleague, but a ‘family’ friend.”
“Working with Celia is always a pleasure,” said Ed Bonifas, president of CSAA and vice president of Alarm Detection Systems. “I cannot recall ever asking for something from her that she did not accomplish with perfection. The list of her accomplishments is longer than this space would allow. CSAA will surely miss her enthusiasm. Abe Lincoln said, ‘Whatever you are, be a good one,’ Celia has always been better than ‘good.’ Best of luck, madam executive director! Celia, we will miss you.”
