The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has appointed two regional electrical code specialists. Jeff Sargent and Tim McClintock will support state adoptions of NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC) and related NFPA electrical standards.
A member of NFPA’s electrical engineering department since 1997, Sargent is a licensed master electrician. He was managing editor of the 2011 NEC and served as the executive secretary to the NFPA Electrical Section. He also contributes to necplus, NFPA’s online NEC product and NFPA Journal.
McClintock previously served 16 years as the chief building official and electrical inspector for the Wayne County Building Department in Wooster, Ohio. He currently serves as membership chair for the Western Section and International Committee for the Int’l Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI). He has also served as chair of NFPA’s Technical Committee on Electrical Equipment Evaluation.
Sargent will handle NEC adoption activities in the New England, Mid-Atlantic and southern regions. McClintock will do the same work in the central, northwest and southwest regions.
NFPA also recently hired a western regional sprinkler specialist. Jeffery Hudson will promote the adoption of fire sprinkler legislation across the western states. With more than 36 years in the fire service, Hudson previously worked 10 years as fire chief for the city of Shawnee, Kan. He has served in leadership roles for the Kansas Association of Fire Chiefs, the Johnson County (Kan.)
