System Sensor FAAST Aspirating Smoke Detector

The FAAST (fire alarm aspiration sensing technology) model 8100 detector by System Sensor of St. Charles, Ill., eliminates the need for technicians to create a separate parallel data network to identify the location of an initiating device, according to the company.

FAAST’s smoke detection performance is built around the company’s dual vision sensing technology. The sensor utilizes an extremely sensitive blue LED to provide very early warning fire detection up to 60 minutes before combustion, according to the company. It also uses an infrared laser to identify nuisances like dust that can cause false alarms and downtime.

TCI/IP connectivity is achieved through an onboard Ethernet port. The product allows up to six individuals to receive E-mail notifications that can identify which unit is the initiating device, as well as the location and details of the event.

Additionally, the products interface enables facility managers to monitor the detector from any Internet browser, smartphone or mobile device with VPN capability.
