ESA Brings on Pair of Competency Directors to Board

Industry veterans Steve Paley and Kevin Stone were appointed to the board in accordance with ESA’s recently amended and adopted bylaws.

CHICAGO — The Electronic Security Association has appointed Steve Paley and Kevin Stone to serve as ESA Competency Directors on its board in accordance with the association’s recently amended and adopted bylaws.

The board-appointed positions provide skill and competency in identified fields or specialties of value to the association and industry, according to an announcement.

Paley is president and CEO of Rapid Security Solutions, based in Sarasota, Fla. Since co-founding RSS in 2007, Paley has been responsible for the strategic leadership and planning of the company, where his 35+ years of middle-market retail, service and distribution management skills have been instrumental in leading the organization’s growth.

Prior to founding RSS, he held various senior executive roles as president, CFO and controller for companies in numerous and diverse industries, domestically and internationally including recreational marine, beverage, professional hair salon and foundry.

Paley became a CPA in 1986 and began his career in the middle-market accounting and consulting practice of KPMG after earning his BS Business degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1984.

Stone serves as COO and executive vice president of Doyle Security Systems, based in Rochester, N.Y.

He began his career with Doyle in 1989 and is a 32-year veteran of the alarm industry. Stone started as a commercial security consultant and now has responsibility for sales, installation and service for Doyle Security’s eight branches.

He is also responsible for the Doyle Medical Monitoring division. Kevin is a Rochester Business Journal 40 under 40 recipient and The Rochester Police Rosewood Club recognized him with a Distinguished Service Award.  He was recognized by Rotary International as Rotarian of the Year and was named a Paul Harris Fellow.

Stone currently sits on the advisory boards of The Monitoring Association (TMA), Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), Resideo and the American Cancer Society.  He is past president of the Akron Newstead Rotary and vice president of the Akron Central School District Board of Education. He is a past chairman of the Western New York Chapter of ASIS, has CPP certification and was a Crime Stoppers board member.

The purpose of a director on the ESA Board is to work collectively as a team to provide good governance of ESA affairs and to set direction to optimize the growth and performance of the organization.

Each board member has a responsibility for ensuring strategies and policies that are developed, discussed, and implemented will enable the organization to achieve its mission and vision, and to monitor the organization’s implementation of those strategies and policies.
