School Dangers Organization Appoints Security Pros to Leadership Roles

The nonprofit’s overall mission is make it easier for schools to improve the safety and security of the nation’s children.

DENTON, Texas — Connie Moorhead, CEO of The CMOOR Group, has been named president of the School Dangers Organization (SDO), a nonprofit that works to improve school security nationwide through advocacy, education and application of technology.

Moorhead has almost 30 years of experience across the physical security, fire/life-safety, manufacturing and distribution industries. Throughout her executive career she has held leadership positions at multiple e-learning, technical education and HR services companies, including The CMOOR Group, Construction Zone, National Processing Company and Ceridian. Since founding The CMOOR Group in 2000, she has grown the company into a multimillion-dollar business, achieving sustainable profitability and personally securing contracts with Fortune 100 companies, according to the announcement.

SDO also appointed Maria Cambria to the position of secretary, and Gregory Bernardo to be treasurer.

Cambria is vice president of FLIR Systems’ Technical Center of Excellence in Ridgefield Park, N.J. She led high performing teams in Israel, Spain, United Kingdom, Mexico and India to implement best practices in specific focus areas to drive top line growth in alignment with overall business objectives.

Bernardo is a physical security expert with more than 20 years’ experience in sales and marketing. He authored “A Primer on Electronic Security for Schools, Universities & Institutions,” and his understanding of product development and product marketing have contributed to the success of new security industry products in the market.

The organization’s website and newsletter are intended to summarize school safety incidents, legislation and mitigation strategies, as well as lessons learned. A research team analyzes hundreds of statutes and bills, and publishes a state law report card and other reports based on comprehensive criteria. SDO has also developed a series of courses with certifications.

“We accomplish our mission by educating the public, fostering an environment for open discussion, and by delivering services for training, planning, regulatory compliance, and improved communication between students, parents and school officials,” Moorhead states in an announcement. “I look forward to continuing to advance our mission with the leadership support of Maria and Gregory.”
