McLEAN, Va. — The Monitoring Association (TMA) 2021 Annual Meeting will feature a keynote address by Jennifer F. Scanlon, president and CEO of UL. In her session, titled “Collaboration — Our Force Multiplier for Forging a Profitable Future,” Scanlon will address the megatrends that are reshaping the alarm and monitoring industry.

The Annual Meeting will be held Oct. 9-13 at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Scanlon is scheduled to speak on Oct. 11.

“UL has long been a trusted partner of TMA,” says TMA President Don Young. “Working in close collaboration with one another for many decades, our organizations have worked to develop key guidelines and standards for the monitoring industry. Likewise, we have jointly addressed critical issues facing providers of monitoring and life safety equipment and services. Most recently, we worked hand-in-hand to address the needs and challenges of monitoring centers at the onset of the COVID-19 epidemic. I am very pleased and honored to have Ms. Scanlon as our 2021 keynote speaker.”

Prior to UL, Scanlon was president and CEO of USG Corp., where she also served as CIO. She led the company through a major international expansion, digital transformation, and sustainable evolution, enhancing its ability to meet customer needs.

Scanlon’s deep commitment to science, technology, engineering and math shape her approach to innovation, according to a TMA announcement. She is a fierce advocate for STEM education and the benefits of diversity and inclusion.

In addition to her role at UL, Scanlon is a member of the board of Norfolk Southern Corp., chair of the Commercial Club of Chicago and vice chair of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame.
