Athena Security, Al-Ameri International Trading Unveil ‘Keep Mosques Safe’ Initiative
The collaboration will deploy Athena Security’s AI-enabled active-shooter, gun-detection platform in mosques around the world.

AUSTIN, Texas — Athena Security and Qatar-based Al-Ameri International Trading announce the “Keep Mosques Safe” initiative.
Al-Ameri International Trading, along with Islamic charities and foundations, will finance the installation of Athena’s artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled active shooter detection platform in mosques across the world, according to the announcement.
One of the first mosques to benefit from the initiative will be the Al-Noor Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, the site of a recent mass shooting that killed 50 people and injured 50 others.
The Athena Security system can reportedly detect an active shooter before they open fire and then flag the security threat to law enforcement and first responders.
Athena claims its security system can warn the first responders, any on-site personnel and local authorities within a matter of seconds, bridging a crucial time gap that could mean the difference between life or death.
The proprietary gun detection platform has been developed and trained on scenarios developed in partnership with law enforcement, according to the company.
“The mass shooting at the Al-Noor Mosque was an unspeakable tragedy that no community should have to suffer,” states Athena Security Co-founder & CEO Lisa Falzone. “The Keep Mosques Safe initiative is an important step in giving mosques the tools to better protect themselves from extremist individuals that wish to do them harm, so we can help prevent horrific events like this in the future.”
