New DMP Question Feature Helps End Users Cancel False Alarms

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A new false alarm question feature developed by Digital Monitoring Products (DMP) for its alarm panels will help users quickly cancel false alarms, the company announced this week.

If users select the false alarm question option, the keypad will prompt them to silence the alarm by entering a code. The keypad will then display the question, “Is this a false alarm?” Customers then have the option of pressing “yes” to cancel the alarm or “no” to confirm the alarm and call for help.

Depending on their customers’ needs, dealers can maintain the current default “cancel/verify” operation or select the new false alarm question option. The feature can be updated and is available on the XT, XTL, and XR100/500 panel, according to the company.

“We recognized the need to provide end users with a simple way to reduce or eliminate false alarms,” says DMP Executive Director of Marketing Mark Hillenburg. “This new false alarm question feature provides a different option for end users to cancel an alarm, prevent an unnecessary emergency response, and avoid the financial penalty of a false alarm.”
