Sales Double During Holidays for Local Texas Town Security Dealer
1st Alarm Co. Owner Craig Partusch says home and business owners are concerned about the influx of people.
SAN ANGELO, Texas – Many home and business owners in this West Central Texas city are adding extra security against prospective thieves during the holiday season, according to a local alarm company.
In fact, 1st Alarm Co. has already sold double the amount of alarms it sold at this time last year, reports KSAN-TV. The reason for the dramatic increase? 1st Alarm Owner Craig Partusch told KSAN that home and business owners are concerned about the influx of people.
“It’s almost doubled since this time last year, as far as our company. It’s just the more people that are here … the more people are around it seems like… you know… people are worried about protecting what they have. So, the alarm systems and the camera systems basically sell themselves,” Partusch said.
While he is not trying to scare members of the community, Partusch said it is really easy for thieves to start their own business off of pilfered goods from residents and businesses.
“It happens all the time. People may come in and will just, you know, take advantage and start their business really easy because they already have the equipment they just took from you,” Partusch said.
San Angelo Police agree the holiday season can be easy pickings for prospective thieves.
“We’re buying gifts for our families and loved ones and they’re in the houses; so, there’s more new stuff in the houses. So, there’s more opportunity there,” SAPD Sector 1 Liaison Rick Tinsley, told KSAN.
