Fibaro Adds Temperature Monitoring, Enhanced Design Options to New Sensor
The Door/Window Sensor 2 is Z-Wave Plus certified, delivering better battery life and temperature sensing in a smaller form factor.
CHICAGO — Fibaro, a global manufacturer of wireless intelligent home automation and control devices, is now shipping the Door/Window Sensor 2, a Z-Wave Plus certified smart home device.
The slim smart sensor can be installed on any door, window, gate or set of blinds in the home or office, according to the company. The Door/Window Sensor 2 can be connected to Fibaro’s Home Center ecosystem or a Z-Wave hub and accessed through the accompanying smart app on a phone, tablet or browser.
The new sensor monitors the status of the door, window, gate or the blinds it is connected to and reports back any change in open/close status, helping to avoid theft, break-ins and energy loss if a door is unintentionally left open, the company states.
New features in the Door/Window Sensor 2 also include an internal temperature sensor, which reports any abnormal changes in temperature and can be tracked using Fibaro’s energy management dashboard, available via the company’s desktop app. Having access to this data enables users to monitor temperature changes, maximize efficiency and reduce monthly electricity bills.
For additional security, the Door/Window Sensor 2 also includes a tamper sensor that will alert the user if someone tries to remove it. The sensor also has the ability to trigger a pre-programmed customized scene. For example, when the front door is opened and the Door/Window sensor is triggered, a “welcome home” scene can be activated with a series of actions pre-programmed by the user (i.e. the front hall lights are turned on, music starts to play and the air conditioning is activated).
With Z-Wave Plus certification, the sensor is said to offer longer battery life, faster operation, better RF coverage and easier installation.

Smaller than its predecessor (at less than 3-inches long), the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor 2 can be mounted on any style of door or window using the included two-sided adhesive. The sensor is battery powered and also works with a Z-Wave hub, so it can be placed anywhere in the home. The device features built-in tamper protection, so any attempt to open or remove the sensor sends an instant alert to the user.
