Low Voltage Contractors Expands Fire/Life-Safety Services With Acquisition
J.N. Johnson Fire and Safety is now operating as a division of LVC.
MINNEAPOLIS – Low Voltage Contractors (LVC), based here, has expanded its fire/life-safety product and service offerings with the acquisition of J.N. Johnson Fire and Safety. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquired company will continue to do business as J.N. Johnson, a Division of LVC. The acquisition includes the company’s headquarters in Minneapolis, as well as offices in Hibbing, Minn., International Falls, Minn., and Lee Leasing, Minn.
J.N. Johnson provides a full range of fire extinguishers, fire extinguishing systems, suppression and detection systems, and related products, according to its Web site. Service is provided throughout the Twin Cities, the state of Minnesota and neighboring states by 15 service trucks.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for us as it broadens our ability to truly be the contractor who can provide all the technology goods and services for a very wide range of clients,” says LVC President and CEO Bob Hoertsch.

J.N. Johnson and LVC have a long history together beginning more than 35 years ago when John Goodwyne, J.N. Johnson’s owner, started LVC. Both companies have continued to collaborate over the years and together have sold, installed and serviced major fire suppression projects in Minnesota and elsewhere.
“By utilizing the talents and resources of both JNJ and LVC we provide capabilities that few other companies possess and the ability to design, provide, install and service the entire system platform,” Hoertsch says.
