ADT Acquires Design Systems Group to Expand Fire/Life-Safety Portfolio

DSG, which will join Red Hawk Fire & Security, has a broad range of clients within the commercial, industrial, educational and entertainment industries.

DALLAS — ADT (NYSE: ADT) recently completed an asset purchase agreement to acquire Design/Systems Group (DSG), a commercial fire and life-safety systems provider, headquartered in Grand Prairie, Texas. DSG will be joined with Red Hawk Fire & Security, which ADT acquired in December 2018.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1999, DSG specializes in the design, installation, certification and maintenance of sophisticated fire and life safety systems for some of the most recognizable commercial clients in North Texas, according to an announcement.

DSG has a broad range of clients within the commercial, industrial, educational and entertainment industries. Among clientele located in Dallas listed on its website, DSG provides services for Bank of America Tower, Joule Hotel, Ritz-Carlton and One Victory Tower.

“Bringing DSG on board is the latest example of the focus by ADT Commercial and Red Hawk to make meaningful investments in important geographic regions as we deliver unmatched customer service and support to enterprise-level organizations,” says ADT Commercial Executive Vice President Dan Bresingham.

DSG’s scope of work encompasses design build, new construction, tenant finish outs, retro fits, remodel, upgrade of existing fire alarm systems and complete off-site monitoring.

“DSG has earned the trust and praise of their commercial customers for excellence and professionalism in the life safety field and the DSG Team will be a force multiplier as we continue to increase our overall presence in the Dallas/Fort Worth region as the premier provider for all our customers’ fire, life safety and security needs,” says Michael McWilliams, senior vice president, Red Hawk Fire & Security, ADT Commercial.

The acquired company’s design abilities include National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), professional and degreed engineers, State of Texas Fire Alarm Planners and CAD operators.

“The entire team at DSG is enthusiastic about joining forces with these two leaders in the fire, life safety and systems integration industry as we work to best serve our new and existing commercial customers in and around the Dallas area,” says DSG CEO Ovid Morphew.
