Convergint Technologies Acquires Altel to Expand North American Reach
Based in the Montreal area, Altel expands Convergint’s presence in the province of Quebec, with additional coverage via offices in Toronto and Calgary.
All 54 Altel employees have joined Convergint and brought the company their expertise in creating high-end, custom electronic security solutions, an announcement states.
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Convergint Technologies has acquired Altel, a systems integration firm headquartered in the Montreal area, for undisclosed terms.
With almost 30 years of experience, Altel develops sophisticated, intelligent electronic security solutions for customers across many vertical markets, according to an announcement.
“Altel brings us strong integration capabilities and deeply experienced colleagues,” says Ken Lochiatto, CEO of Convergint Technologies. “They will further enhance our reach and service offering, enabling us to continue on our goal of being our customers’ best service provider. We are excited to welcome the Altel team into the Convergint Technologies family.”
Altel expands Convergint’s presence in the province of Quebec, and it also brings additional coverage via offices in Toronto and Calgary. Founded in 1989 by Ricky Dumas, Jacques Leclair and Yves Paquin, Altel has since built a strong, diversified customer base across the government, pharmaceutical, financial and educational markets.

Founded in 2002, the integrator has grown to employ more than 3,400 colleagues as the business continues to expand its security offerings and geographic footprint.
