Cook & Boardman Buys Systems Integrator Advantech

Founded in 1990 by Eric Schaeffer and three partners, Advantech is a full-service security integration company serving a wide range of vertical markets.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Cook & Boardman Group, a leading specialty distributor of commercial door entry solutions and systems integration services, has acquired Dover, De.-based Advantech for undisclosed terms.

Cook & Boardman is a portfolio company of Littlejohn & Co. Advantech represents the company’s eighth acquisition since being acquired by Littlejohn in 2018.

Founded in 1990 by Eric Schaeffer and three partners, Advantech is a full-service security integration company serving a wide range of educational, governmental, commercial and healthcare customers in Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and the Washington D.C. metro area. A member of Security-Net, the company specializes in large facility security, fire and life-safety systems, access control, video surveillance, intrusion protection, emergency communication and identity management solutions.

Under terms of the agreement, the company will continue to operate under the Advantech name as a division of A3 Communications, which was acquired by Cook & Boardman in 2019 and is said to be one of the nation’s fastest growing systems integration companies. Advantech CEO Dave Sweeney will continue to lead the organization after the acquisition.

Cook & Boardman serves multifamily and non-residential markets including the commercial, education, government, healthcare, office and hospitality sectors from more than 50 locations across 16 states, including 15 the Mid-Atlantic region, and nationwide through an ecommerce portal.
