Police: Beware of Man Posing as Protection 1 Sales Rep
The Santa Fe Police Department believes a man posing as a Protection 1 sales representative is targeting children.
SANTA FE, N.M. – The Santa Fe Police Department is warning residents to be cautious of a suspicious man who may be posing as a security alarm sales representative. Authorities believe the man may be targeting children.
On July 20, a woman contacted police after she found a strange man talking with her five-year-old son and a nine-year-old relative in the family’s garage. The woman, who did not want her name released, told authorities she confronted the man when she saw him attempt to grab her son by the arm, KRQE.com reports.
The suspect told the woman that he worked for Protection 1, and that he was looking for the children’s parents. Once the woman started asking more questions, the suspect yelled an obscenity at her. He later drove off in a white four-door hatchback after the woman’s husband and father came out to see what was happening, Albuquerque Journal reports.

The man is described as a clean-cut Hispanic, in his 20s or 30s, thin build, about 5’11” wearing khaki shorts and a white polo shirt. The suspect did not have any credentials on him.
The suspicious man did, however, leave a business card with a neighbor who says the suspect was trying to sell security systems with the name “Arron Cross.” When detectives looked up the person on the card, that individual did not match witness’ description of the man found in the garage.
Police believe someone else may be using the real Arron Cross’ business card.
P1 released the following statement following the incident:
“At Protection 1, the safety and security of our customers and the public is our number one priority. We are concerned about the report we have received and are looking into the situation as we speak. We are in the process of getting in touch with the police to assist them in any way we can. Because we are just learning the details ourselves, it would be inappropriate to comment further but we hope to know more very quickly.”
